PERFORMANCE

More than two decades across theatre, touring, orchestral music, and recording.

Romano was a member of the original Broadway company of Come From Away and spent seven years as drummer and percussion consultant for the Wicked U.S. National Tour.

His work also includes performances with Loreena McKennitt, the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Ladom Ensemble, and numerous theatre, dance, and recording projects.

COMPOSITION & SOUND

Creating sound that serves the story.

Romano’s recent work includes original theme music and sonic branding for the Creemore Film Festival, sound-design consultation for Digital Extremes’ Soulframe, and music metadata tagging for Keith Power’s television series The Way Home and Son of a Critch.

RECORDING

Percussion with character, colour, and a sense of place.

From bodhrán and drum set to orchestral and found percussion, Romano records with a broad sonic palette shaped by theatre, traditional music, and storytelling. Recent projects include percussion for Warframe, performances with Loreena McKennitt and Ladom Ensemble at Classical:NEXT, and the Come From the Bays recording project.

TEACHING

Private bodhrán and percussion coaching for committed learners.

Lessons are shaped around the individual, with attention to technique, musicality, ergonomics, injury prevention, and the practical demands of performance.

A Newfoundland-born percussionist, composer, sound designer, and educator, Romano brings together a career in major theatre, touring, orchestral music, recording, television, interactive media, and traditional music. He is a proud Qalipu First Nation member and holds a master’s degree in music from McGill University.
